Learning Qur’aan and Tajweed from the people of innovation

هل يجوز أخذ علم التجويد واللغة عن المبتدعة؟
الشيخ عبيد بن عبد الله الجابري ﷾
السؤال: جزاكم الله خيرًا، السؤال السابع يا شيخ! سائلة تقول: ما رأيكم في من يقول أنه يجوز حضور دروس التجويد واللغة لمن ليس سلفيًا، أو مجهول الحال، مع الحذر من أخطائه، وعندما سُئل: هل يفرق بينهما وبين بقية العلوم الشرعية؟ قال: إن كل العلوم تأخذها ممن يقولها بحق وصدق، ولو كان هو لا يعتقد ذلك وتحذر من الأخطاء، وتقول: فهل هناك خلاف في ذلك بين أهل السنة؟
الجواب: أولاً: يا بنتي! هذا الأمر جد خطير عن الدراسة على أصحاب البدع والأهواء؛ ولهذا فإني أنصح بما يأتي:
أولاً: يجب على المسلم أن يحذر المبتدعة وأصحاب الأهواء، يحذر مجالستهم ويحذر أخذ العلم عنهم؛ لأن المبتدعة غير المأمونين، ليست عندهم أمانة، هم أعداء السنة. من هنا نقول: من كان مبتدئًا حديث عهد بالسنة وقليل العلم؛ فإنه لا يُنصَح بالدراسة على من كانت عنده بدع؛ لأنه يُخْشى على هذا وأمثاله منهم، فإن أصحاب البدع يغتنمون من قلّ علمه وقلّ فقهه بالسنة؛ ليلقون عليه الشبه.
وثانيًا: من كان متمكنًا من السنة وقويًا في العلم، واحتاج إلى علم لا يوجد إلا عند مبتدع؛ فلا مانع أن يأخذ هذا العلم عن ذلك المبتدع؛ بشرط أن لا يقبل منه الأخطاء، وأن يَحذَرَ أخطاءه. فالخلاصة: أن المبتدئ وحديث العهد بالسنة وقليل العلم، لا يُنصَح بالدراسة على المبتدعة، وإن كانت دراسة القرآن أوالتجويد أو غيرها. ومن كان قوي في السنة ومتمكنٌ في العلم؛ فلا مانع أن يدرس عندهم ما يحتاجه، إذا لم يوجد سلفي يقوم بذلك العلم، وإن وجِدَ سلفي يقوم بذلك العلم؛ فالواجب هجر المبتدعة والحذر منهم، نعم.

Question: What is your opinion regarding one taking lessons of Tajweed and Arabic language from a non-Salafee whose condition is unclear, but whose mistakes we keep away from? So is there a difference of opinion amongst the scholars regarding this issue?
Answer: O my daughter, studying from the people of innovations is very dangerous.
Firstly, I advise you and every Muslim that it is obligatory upon all of us to keep away from the gatherings of the people of innovation and desire; we must not take knowledge from them since they cannot be trusted since they are the enemies of the Sunnah; likewise if they have little knowledge of the Sunnah, then it is not permissible to study under them because it is feared that they will instil their doubts in you.
Secondly, whoever is firm on the Sunnah and strong in his knowledge but needs a science or knowledge that he can only find amongst the people of bid’ah (innovation), then there is nothing wrong for this person to take that knowledge from those people with the condition that he doesn’t accept their mistakes but instead points them out. So for the newcomer to the Sunnah, it is not permissible to take knowledge from the people of innovation, even if it is Qur’aan, Tajweed etc… whereas a person who is strong and firm on the Sunnah and he needs a knowledge from them [Ahlul Bid’ah] then he can take knowledge from them… But, however, if there is a Salafi person whose present then it is Waajib to keep away from the Ahlul Bid’ah. Na’am.
