Shaykh Ahmad al-Najmee (رحمه الله) warns against Sufi Nasheed Singers like Mishari Rashid al-Afasi, et al.
Transcript Arabic/English:
هل يجوز الاستماع للمنشد راشد العفاسي حيث أن هناك قناة خاصة به تبث أناشيده ؟
Is it permissible to listen to Rashid al-Afasi, where there is a specific satellite channel that broadcasts his anaasheed.
The Shaykh then asked, “Is this a Qur’anic reciter?” and he was told, “This is a reciter of the Qur’an who has a satellite channel that broadcasts his anaasheed.”
سبحان الله .قد قلت أن إنشاد الصوفية لا يجوز
The Shaykh then said: “Subhaanallaah. I have said that the poetic recitation of the Sufis is not allowed.
فإن كان الإنشاد إنشاد أعراب، يعني كشعر يقرؤه بسليقته، هذا ما فيه مانع
But if this poetic recitation is that of the bedouins, meaning like poetry he recited in his own distinctive style, then there is nothing preventing this,
وقد أنشد عند رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ،لكن إنشاد الصوفية هذا بدعة
and poetic recitation was made in the presence of the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ), however the poetic recitations of the Sufis, this is a bid’ah.
